Advertising Specialties Sales Reached Record $19.6 Billion in '07

Today we announced results of our exclusive annual advertising specialties sales analysis – showing that revenues reached $19.6 billion in 2007 – up 5.4 percent from 2006 and a new record.

This is the highest industry sales we’ve recorded - reflecting that the industry has been growing consistently over the last five years and that marketers are using advertising specialties to deliver their brand in a powerful, memorable and cost-effective way.

Spending on promotional products was 83% greater than radio advertising, 73% greater than Internet display ads and nearly five times larger than outdoor advertising for the same period (according to TNS Media Intelligence). Industry increases also outpaced the 2.2% growth rate for the United States GDP.

Since our industry continues to outpace other categories, I believe promotional products are a safer advertising investment in these times of economic change than other forms of advertising.

But while distributors are optimistic for 2008, we’ll continue to watch several factors impacting the industry, like:

  • Ensuring product safety and compliance.
  • Increasing demand for products that are environment-friendly.
  • Volatility of prices for natural resources used in manufacturing, such as oil for plastics.
ASI is closely monitoring these to keep you informed through our 13 print and electronic publications and resources.
