Celebrating Connection: International Day of Friendship at ASI

ASI’s Diversity & Inclusion Council proudly hosted a celebration of International Day of Friendship, encouraging connection and kindness among employees.

At ASI, we believe that connection is at the heart of a thriving workplace. On July 30, we came together to celebrate the International Day of Friendship with an afternoon of joy, creativity, and community—featuring an ice cream social, a photo booth, and friendship bracelet making.

This global celebration has meaningful roots. In 1958, Dr. Ramón Artemio Bracho of Paraguay proposed the idea of a World Friendship Day during a dinner with friends. His vision was to promote peace and understanding among nations. That evening, the World Friendship Crusade was born. Over time, the idea gained international support, and in 2011, the United Nations officially declared July 30 as International Friendship Day. While different countries may celebrate friendship at various times throughout the year, the message remains universal: friendship fosters unity, empathy, and connection.

Employees from across departments gathered to enjoy sweet treats, snap photos with colleagues, and craft bracelets that symbolize the bonds we share. These moments of connection remind us that friendship isn’t just a personal joy—it’s a powerful force for well-being.

Research shows that strong friendships have a profound impact on our physical and mental health. They help reduce stress and anxiety, combat loneliness and depression, encourage healthy habits, and provide a sense of belonging and purpose. In times of challenge, friendships offer support and resilience. In today's world, it's easy to overlook the importance of human connection. The bonds we make within our communities can strengthen our workplace setting by creating a more inclusive environment.

At ASI, we’re proud to foster an environment where friendships can flourish—across teams, cultures, and backgrounds. Celebrations like this one are a testament to our commitment to inclusion, empathy, and the human connections that make our workplace extraordinary.

Here’s to friendship—today and every day.
