Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from and what do you do for ASI?
ST: My family is originally from Madison, GA. I am a Southerner at heart; however, I grew up in New Jersey. I am the Director of Corporate Marketing and manage the ASI Business Savings Program and marketing plans for Power Summit, Counselor Awards, CDCA and ASI Integrations.
Q: What do you like most about working at ASI?
ST: The flexibility. ASI is a family-oriented company and puts best practices in place to promote a stable work-life balance environment. From the onset of the pandemic, they have gone the extra mile to ensure employees were equipped to WFH and supported flexible work schedules.
Q: What do you miss most since the pandemic started?
ST: TRAVELING!! This has been the longest time I haven’t been on a flight in YEARS! I love the Caribbean, Europe and visiting U.S. cities. We had vacations planned to Aruba, Jamaica and to the new SoFi and Allegiant football stadiums in California and Vegas. I am a huge Eagles fan – 😊 GO BIRDS – and I try to visit other stadiums to see them play. Unfortunately, all 2020 trips were canceled. I also miss movie theatres; my husband and I would go 3-4 times a month. There’s just something special about a large bucket of popcorn with extra butter, a reclining seat and a great action picture.
Q: If Hollywood were to make a movie about your life, who would you choose to play you?
ST: It would have been the late, great diva Diahann Carroll. She played Dominique Deveraux on Dynasty (I’m dating myself); she was sophisticated, stylish and callous (when she needed to be). I loved her and wanted to change my name to Dominique!
Q: Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
ST: I LOVE snorkeling! There haven’t been many vacations where snorkeling or swimming through caves and jumping in cenotes wasn’t included as an activity. I’m a thrill seeker and I look forward to a good adrenaline rush: rappelling down a cliff, ziplining, extreme ATV excursions. I’ve been fortunate enough to check many things off my bucket list. However, I haven’t done skydiving and I’m not sure at this age if I would.
Q: What’s your favorite perk about working at ASI?
ST: The holiday turkey. I always host Thanksgiving and typically deep-fry 3 turkeys for my guests. That extra bird comes in handy. GOBBLE GOBBLE
Q: If you were stuck on a desert island and could only have one promo product, what would you choose and why?
ST: A light-up cup that changes colors. I don’t think I ever saw one before I started working at ASI. Who knew they came in so many shapes and sizes? I just enjoy looking at the pretty lights and get mesmerized by something so simple.
Q: Have you learned a new skill or taken on a new hobby because of the pandemic?
ST: Absolutely 😊 I’ve always loved to cook and entertain. During the pandemic, I researched and made some of my favorite exotic cocktails, including my specialty "Chocolate Martini," which was a lot of fun demonstrating at the virtual Power Summit! I created a few other desserts while hosting small gatherings with family and friends. I impressed myself and my husband is loving all the extra culinary delights.
Q: What was the first concert you attended?
ST: There was an annual event held at the Meadowlands in Secaucus (now MET Life Stadium) called the Budweiser Superfest. Rick James was the headliner this particular year and I begged my mother to go and she finally agreed as long as “older friends” were going, as she thought they would be more responsible – WRONG! 😊
Q: What’s your favorite memory from working at ASI?
ST: The diversity group held a program called Foods Around the World. It was amazing to just go around the entire building eating, drinking, networking with colleagues and learning about the different cultures and exotic foods. I had only been with the organization a short while and I kept hearing ASI throws the BEST parties. So far ASI has exceeded the company party expectation.
Q: What’s one thing you wish people knew about ASI? Or, what do you think is the biggest misconception about ASI?
ST: When I say I work in the promotional products industry, the immediate response is “Oh, you make pens and mugs.” I think the biggest misconception is getting people to realize promo products are more than a pen, a mug or T-shirt.
